Iran seeks a fair, balanced deal: Araghchi

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that the Islamic Republic is in favor of a fair and balanced deal.

During an interview with The Economist on November 19 in Tehran, Araghchi said, “We don’t have a single good experience with negotiating with the United States.”

“We are ready for negotiation, but not for dictation,” he added.

“Zero enrichment is impossible,” he said, “but zero [nuclear] weapons is possible.”

The recent reimposition of United Nations sanctions made it harder to find ways to cooperate with the Western powers, Araghchi said.

Asked about Iran’s readiness for possible Israeli attacks, Araghchi said the Islamic Republic was “even more prepared than [in] the previous war”.

Iran’s “missiles are in a better position”, both in terms of quantity and quality, he noted.

“The best way to prevent a war”, said Araghchi, “is to be prepared for that. And we are fully prepared.”
