The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 26th General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Riyadh.
Highlighting the cultural and civilizational similarities between the two countries, Salehi Amiri stated that the Iranian government prioritizes developing relations with Uzbekistan.
He added that Iranian and Uzbek cultures, peoples, and histories are so closely connected that it feels as if both nations exist within a shared cultural space.
He also expressed Iran’s willingness to assist in restoring Uzbekistan's historic monuments.
He mentioned that the Iranian Research Institute of Cultural Heritage has a dedicated restoration department and is ready to send experts to collaborate on restoration projects in Bukhara and Samarkand.
Salehi Amiri emphasized the importance of holding joint tourism and handicraft exhibitions in Tashkent and Tehran.
He suggested that Iran and Uzbekistan can showcase their cultural and historical strengths to regional countries through joint exhibitions.
Meanwhile, Shadiev welcomed Salehi Amiri’s suggestions.
He noted his satisfaction with the increase in direct flights between Mashhad and Uzbek cities.
He stressed that without direct connections, tourism cannot flourish.
He also mentioned that Uzbekistan currently issues visas for Iranian tourists online and expressed openness to establishing a mutual visa waiver to make travel easier.to facilitate trips.
