A closer reading of the American draft reveals not a sincere effort toward peace or reconstruction, but an organized plan to achieve objectives that Washington and Tel Aviv have failed to realize through two years of military operations and political pressure.
The text of the resolution explicitly calls for the full disarmament of Gaza and the destruction of the military infrastructure of resistance groups — an act that, in the absence of political guarantees and the restoration of legitimate Palestinian sovereignty, would effectively dismantle the defensive capacity of Gaza’s population and hand over its control to foreign forces.
Past experiences — such as the US attempt to enforce similar provisions in Lebanon after Resolution 1701 — show that such plans have either failed outright or come at heavy human and political costs. It follows, then, that the true aim of this draft is to create a legal pretext for renewed political and military pressure on the resistance.
Unilateral “Security” and the Erasure of Palestine
The American approach to “security” in this resolution is wholly one-sided: it defines security solely in terms of safeguarding the Zionist regime, while ignoring the Palestinian people’s right to self-defense and self-determination.
The “interim enforcement force” envisioned by Washington would, unlike UN peacekeeping missions, operate under institutions directly controlled by the United States — a step that would expand Washington’s direct influence while further undermining the United Nations’ credibility.
Such a mechanism would, in effect, erase Palestine from political and security equations. For any nation, defensive capability, reconstruction resources and international recognition constitute essential pillars of political existence.
Meanwhile, with the occupying regime still holding absolute air superiority, any talk of “establishing security” is hollow and deceitful. Real security can only emerge when the Zionist regime is stripped of its aggression and its monopoly on weaponry.
A Blueprint for Capitulation Across the Region
The American model of coalition-building — as seen in the anti-ISIS campaign or the support coalition for Ukraine — rests on outsourcing costs to other nations while imposing Washington’s political agenda upon them.
In the case of Gaza, too, the United States is seeking to form a new coalition, coercing regional states into accepting its schemes under the slogan of “comprehensive security.”
In truth, the goal of this coalition is not to establish peace, but to render regional countries defenceless and force the resistance movements into submission.
Recent remarks from the US Central Command (CENTCOM) about involving around 40 countries in a “Washington Civil Coordination Centre” to monitor the Gaza ceasefire should be viewed in this light. This comes despite former president Donald Trump’s repeated claims that his policies would prevent any wars in the region and guarantee Israel’s security.
Overlooked Realities
Behind Washington’s peace slogans, the grim realities of Gaza persist. Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for Gaza’s Rescue and Relief Agency, has stressed that the post-war situation is no different from wartime: the humanitarian crisis remains severe, the destruction endures, and the remnants of war continue to paralyze civilian life.
Global reports likewise confirm that humanitarian aid deliveries have been largely ineffective, while Gaza’s population continues to face hunger, disease and displacement. In other words, the so-called “ceasefire” has merely served to ease global public pressure and buy time for the Zionist regime to regroup.
It is therefore evident that the US resolution is not designed to bring peace, but to legitimize occupation policies and perpetuate genocide. In these circumstances, vigilance from Islamic nations, independent institutions and fair-minded members of the UN Security Council is essential to prevent another human catastrophe from unfolding.
