At the inauguration ceremony of a 250MW solar power plant and the start of execution operation of 450MW solar power plant via video conference on Saturday, Pezeshkian cited reports by the Ministry of Energy that solar energy will not only solve the problem of electricity shortage, but will also be a huge step in protecting the environment because it significantly reduces greenhouse gases.
He noted that the administration “is ready to remove any obstacle to accelerating the construction of solar power plants,” in order to eliminate the electricity disparity and facilitate the private sector's investment in this area.
“We must proceed in such a way that no factory faces an electricity shortage in the summer of next year, and this is among the administration's priorities,” said the president, stressing that all aspects of human life are dependent on energy, and it necessitates quickly advancing all projects related to energy, including solar.
Pezeshkian emphasized the need to focus more on building solar plants in the south of the country along the coasts of the Persian Gulf, saying it will contribute significantly to the development of these areas.
Earlier, Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi explained the solar projects, saying that with today’s inauguration, the total electricity generated by renewable power plants in the country will reach 2,550 megawatts, meaning the monthly electricity consumption of 145,000 Iranian families.
At the ceremony, the governors of several provinces also virtually provided details about the process of building solar plants in their respective provinces.
