Speaking to Geo News after the Pakistani prime minister’s address at the United Nations General Assembly, Khawaja Muhammad Asif said relations with Iran had improved significantly in recent months.
“Our ties with Iran are close and brotherly,” he said, adding that any misunderstandings on certain issues had been resolved through direct engagement between the two neighboring states.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Asif mentioned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House and Islamabad’s efforts to promote regional peace.
He said Pakistan could potentially help ease tensions between Iran and the United States.
