Iranian wushu athletes sweep 4 more golds at World Championships

Iran’s wushu athletes continue to deliver an impressive performance at World Championships, snatching four more gold medals in addition to a historic one secured in women’s qiangshu.

Soheila and Shaharbanou Mansourian, along with Sedigheh Daryaei, all claimed gold medals on Saturday, the fourth day of the 17th Wushu World Championships in Brasília.

Soheila Mansourian faced off a Chinese contestant in the final bout of women’s 70-kg sanda category, triumphing 2–1 to secure gold. She had advanced to the final after defeating opponents from Bermuda and Tunisia.

Shaharbanou Mansourian, who had already won five world titles prior to this championship, earned her sixth world gold medal. In women’s 75-kg sanda final, she decisively overcame an Indian competitor with a commanding 2–0 victory, after defeating fighters from Egypt and the United States.

Meanwhile, in women’s 65-kg sanda final, Daryaei defeated a Turkish opponent 2–0 to win gold. She had previously advanced past competitors from Mexico and Italy.

Earlier in the day, Soheil Mousavi and Zahra Kiani had also seized gold medals.

Kiani had secured gold, showcasing exceptional skills in women’s qiangshu, a wushu talu (or form) that prominently features a spear as the primary component of the routine.
