Nournews: In a confidential report to the Board of Governors, the IAEA alleged that Iran’s stockpile of 60% enriched uranium has surpassed 440 kilograms. The report states that this estimate is based on data provided by Iran, limited verification activities between May 16 and June 11, as well as projections derived from the past performance of Iran’s nuclear facilities. Crucially, the Agency itself admitted that since June 12, due to security conditions, no field activities have been conducted to gather data. Therefore, the claim of an increase in stockpiles is essentially based on indirect calculations and past estimates rather than precise on-site measurements.
This report once again illustrates the IAEA’s political, non-technical, and pressure-driven approach toward Iran. Similar reports in past years have largely relied on estimates rather than independent technical data, serving as tools for political and media pressure against the country.
Repeating the claim of “stockpile increase” at a time when field verification has not been possible is less a technical warning and more an attempt by the Agency to fuel distrust and international pressure. The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly emphasized that its nuclear activities are pursued solely within peaceful needs and in line with international regulations, and it expects the IAEA to return to its professional mandate instead of playing in the political arena.
