With its mountainous climate, Borujen is known for mild summers and cold winters, at times dropping to –27°C. This climate makes it a popular destination in spring and summer.
Some of Borujen’s features and attractions include:
- Cheshmeh Siasard Recreational Area — a lush, nationally registered site located near the city.
- Gandoman and Choghakhor international wetlands — rich in unique vegetation and migratory birds, they are among the province’s most important ecotourism spots.
- Ow Sepid (White Water) Waterfall — a pristine and little-known waterfall with cool, refreshing water, beloved by nature enthusiasts.
- Anthropology Museum (Hafizi House) and Mosalla Bridge — notable cultural and historical landmarks.
- Unspoiled mountain nature — including the Kelar highlands, Tang Vastegan gorge, as well as local orchards and parks.
Beyond its natural beauty, Borujen plays a major role in industry: over 45 to 50 percent of the province’s industrial units are based here, with key sectors including steel, tiles, carpets, and food industries.
The people of Borujen mainly speak Persian with the local Orjeni accent, while groups of Lors and Qashqai Turks also live in the area.
The city is known for its traditional handicrafts such as Maleki giveh (handmade footwear with over a century of history, distinct from local clothing), kilim weaving, and felt-making. Popular souvenirs include Boldaji gaz (a Persian nougat), polaki sweets, kashk (dried dairy curds), nabat (rock candy), dairy products, and natural honey.
