Although Iran has harbored the resentment of the enemies in heart for years and kept the flames of anger burning,it has never been the initiator of a war or conflict, Parliament said in a statement on Wednesday.
Even in recent months, despite the injustices and treachery on the part of the enemies, Iran did not abandon dialogue as the situation demanded and never took the first step toward war, it added.
“We condemn the Israeli regime’s aggression on Iran and the cowardly assassination of defenseless people, women, children, scientists, and commanders,” it noted.
In accordance with Article 5 of the United Nations Charter, the Iranian nation and the government have the inherent right of legitimate defense against explicit invasion on its national security, the lawmakers stressed.
Accordingly, any action taken by Iran in self-defense is fully justified and legitimate under international law and the inherent right of sovereign defense, the statement reads.
All nations are obligated to respect this inalienable right and must refrain from adopting biased approaches that contravene the principles of international law, it added.
