Trump: We’re Close to a Deal with Iran /Qatar Averted War!

During a visit to Qatar, Donald Trump announced that the United States is close to reaching a deal with Iran, and that negotiations are progressing seriously. Praising the role of the Emir of Qatar, he emphasized that while some regional actors are pushing for military action against Iran, Qatar has helped pave the way for diplomacy.

These remarks come at a time when tensions in the Persian Gulf remain high, and many of America's allies are deeply concerned about the consequences of a military confrontation. In a particularly noteworthy statement, Trump lauded the Emir of Qatar for facilitating the negotiation process, saying: “Iran should be very grateful to the Emir of Qatar, because others, unlike him, would prefer that we launch a severe attack on Iran.”

Trump’s statements came just hours after Ali Shamkhani, senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, gave an interview to NBC News. In the interview, Shamkhani said Iran is willing to halt high-level uranium enrichment and convert its stockpiles—on the condition that the United States swiftly lifts all sanctions.

The timing of these positions from both sides appears to signal intense diplomatic maneuvering toward reaching a new agreement in the near future—one that could reshape the region’s security landscape.
