The ceremony, attended by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and several former IRNA managers, saw the farewell of Ali Naderi, the outgoing managing director, and the introduction of Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the new chief.
Jaberi Ansari, born in 1969, has had a three-decade career in the foreign ministry, starting at the Palestine desk. His previous roles include advisor to the deputy minister for Arab and African affairs, director general for Middle East and North Africa, spokesperson, and head of the public diplomacy and media center. He has also served as deputy minister for consular, parliamentary, and Iranian expatriates affairs.
Jaberi Ansari has recently published a book titled ‘Journey Through the Embers,’ which is the Persian translation of the memoirs of Munir Shafiq, a Palestinian thinker and strategist.
Naderi, who was appointed managing director of IRNA in 2021 during the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi, handed over the reins to Jaberi Ansari in the ceremony.
