During the meeting, Araghchi appreciated China’s constructive approach to regional issues in West Asia, and emphasized Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations with neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia, based on the good-neighborly policy.
In this meeting, the Iranian foreign minister referred to the growing trend of relations between Tehran and Riyadh in various fields of mutual interest and the consultations between the two countries, especially at the level of foreign ministers.
Araghchi also described China's role in strengthening international peace and stability and helping to safeguard multilateralism and the rule of law, as well as consolidating cooperation among the developing world, as very important.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran and China are determined to use all available capacities to expand bilateral relations.
Foreign Minister Araghchi considered that maintaining stability and lasting security in the region requires the cooperation of all countries in the region, adding that Iran seeks a strong and stable region free from the destructive interventions of some extra-regional powers.
The third meeting of the Trilateral Committee comprising Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China took place in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on Tuesday.
The session was chaired by Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and attended by Waleed Al-Khuraiji, the Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Miao Deyu, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister.
The Iranian and Saudi sides reaffirmed their commitment to implementing all provisions of the Beijing Agreement and to continued efforts to strengthen neighborly relations through adherence to the UN Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and international law, including respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and the security of both parties.
Iran and Saudi Arabia also welcomed the continued positive role of the People’s Republic of China and emphasized the importance of Beijing’s support for the implementation of the agreement.
China expressed its readiness to continue backing and encouraging the steps taken by Iran and Saudi Arabia to enhance their relations across various fields.
All three countries welcomed the progress made in Iran-Saudi relations and the emerging opportunities for direct interactions between the two sides at all levels and sectors. They emphasized the significance of reciprocal visits and contacts among senior officials, particularly in light of current regional tensions that threaten both regional and global security.
