Iran considers Turkey’s recent action to implement revoked Security Council resolutions as legally baseless, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday.
He stressed that the reinstatement by three European countries—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom—lacks a legitimate legal foundation.
Baghaei called on all countries, particularly Iran’s neighbors and friendly states, to refrain from validating any measures that would legitimize the unlawful actions of the three European countries.
The spokesperson clarified that the entities mentioned in Turkey’s notice have no assets or accounts in Turkey and even the Deputy for International Affairs of the Atomic Energy Organization explicitly stated that no seizure has occurred.
He added that Iran’s diplomatic mission has actively pursued all necessary initiatives in New York in recent months to prevent the unlawful actions of the European countries, even showing reasonable flexibility toward some of their proposals.
“Despite repeated acceptance of proposals by European parties, they failed to convince the United States, as Washington’s policy has always focused on reinstating the resolutions,” Baghaei noted.
