The national team player Shima Safaei defeated her Egyptian opponent in the quarterfinals of the Feeder Cappadocia tournament, advancing to the semifinals and securing at least a bronze medal, the news service of the Iranian Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry-Borna reported on Saturday.

Safaei thus became the first Iranian woman to win a medal at a global table tennis feeder competition. She is scheduled to face Japan’s representative later on Saturday in her bid to reach the final.
