Rahimi has sent letters to the justice ministers of more than 100 countries, the secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as legal and judicial officials since the 12-day war was halted on June 24, according to a press release by the Iranian Justice Ministry on Wednesday.
The Iranian justice minister has also made phone calls to several counterparts as part of the diplomatic campaign aimed at regional and global convergence in condemning the U.S.-Israeli war and pursuing legal and judicial actions regarding the crimes committed during the conflict.
In his letter, Rahimi pointed out to the explicit violation of fundamental principles of international humanitarian law during the aggression. He said that the failure to observe the distinction between military and civilian targets, the deliberate attacks on ordinary citizens, and the assassination of nuclear scientists, are some of the examples showing disregard for the most basic norms of human rights and humanitarian law.
The minister also emphasized that leaving these blatant and dangerous crimes unaddressed undermines the foundations of the global legal order.
He has urged his counterparts in other countries to utilize their legal and judicial capacities to uphold justice and international order.
