Students Mehdi Aqajanloo and Bardia Khosheqbal snatched the gold medal at this year’s edition of IMO, hosted by the Australian Maths Trust.
Mohammad-Sajad Memari, Mohammad-Reza Attaranzadeh, and Amir-Hossein Zarei won the silver medal, while Parsia Tajallaei received the bronze at the contest.
On Friday, Zabihollah Tarasi, the general director of education in Zanjan Province, said, “The International Mathematical Olympiad, as the most prestigious scientific competition in the world, has always been a platform for the emergence of brilliant talents.”
According to the event’s website, the IMO is “the largest and most prestigious of all the international Olympiads, having grown from seven countries to over a hundred each year.”
IMO brings “the brightest young minds from around the world and represents the culmination of many years of mathematical endeavor and hundreds of attempts at solving problems.”
